Distributed Ledger-Based Supply Chain Auditability in Enterprise Information Systems

Abstract

Supply chain auditability has become increasingly important as organizations seek to improve transparency, regulatory compliance, and operational accountability across complex enterprise ecosystems. Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), particularly Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, manage procurement, production, logistics, finance, and inventory operations; however, centralized databases often face challenges related to data manipulation, fragmented records, limited traceability, and delayed audit processes. Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) provides an immutable and decentralized mechanism for recording enterprise transactions, enabling secure, transparent, and verifiable information sharing among authorized stakeholders. This paper proposes a Distributed Ledger-Based Supply Chain Auditability Framework integrated with Enterprise Information Systems to strengthen transaction integrity, automate audit trails, and improve cross-organizational collaboration. The proposed architecture combines permissioned blockchain, smart contracts, distributed identity management, ERP integration middleware, and cryptographic security mechanisms to establish trusted audit records without disrupting existing enterprise workflows. The framework enhances regulatory compliance, supplier accountability, operational visibility, and business trust while reducing audit complexity, fraud, and manual verification efforts. The proposed solution supports scalable, secure, and intelligent enterprise supply chain management for modern digital organizations.
